math terms for elementary

I am having a brain fart and cant remember how to do this elementary math. Can you help?

I have a list of rates:
.7
.9
.8
.65
.85

And I want to increase these rates to 165 % of the original rate.

You are more than welcome to do the math for me and tell me the answers, but please also tell me how to do it in case I need to do it again. Also can you give it to me in “I’m 37 and it’s been a while since I’ve been in school” terms? Thanks.

Don’t you move the decimal point over two places? Multiply .7 times 1.65? Evan’s not around sorry, he gets out at 3:30. Nothing’s more humbling than going to my 10 year old son for an education whoopazz.

Or, just give her a fin and tell her to keep the change.
- – - – -
Whew, if the guy below me is right, I edited my answer just in time. Yay me.

And I want to increase these rates to 165 % of the original rate.”

    - To increase each of the rates to 165% of their initial value, just multiply each rate by 2.65

    Method:
say for example, you want to increase 0.7 to 165% of its original rate, then,
    it is
    = 0.7 + {(165/100)*0.7}
    = 0.7 + (1.65*0.7)
    = 0.7(1 + 1.65) [taking 0.7 common]
    = 0.7 * 2.65

Similarly, can proceed for other rates.
