Elementary English & Math Education Tips

I need a lesson for my observation, I teach 7th grade math!!!!!?

This is my second year teaching, but I am new on my campus. I teach 7th grade math, and my principal was a math teacher. I will be teaching proportions (solving proportions), and I really need a great idea to make sure my students are engaged. I will introduce identifying and writing proportions beforehand. I have a 90 minute block, and my principal will be there for the first half of my block. I will be shortening my warm-up so that it will take about 10 minutes rather than the 15-20 we normally take. From there, I do not know . . .

I was a teacher too but not in math. I have some general tips.

See that you have good and current bulletin boards in your classroom.

Start the class promptly.

Call on as many different students as you can

Hopefully you know all of their names by now.

Engage in a lot of Board work.

Move around the room.

Many principals like to see the teachers name and the daily aim on the chalkboard.

Compliment students for the correct answer but don’t go
overboard with this.

Do not allow students to adjust windows.

Make sure that the floors are clean.

Dress properly and professionally.

If you can check homework in some way.

Some supervisors will ask to see your lesson plan.

Speak loudly enough to be heard.

Make certain that students take notes as appropriate.

I know some of these suggestions appear silly but I bet if you get a written report most of them Will be there as complimentary.
