Elementary English & Math Education Tips

A question for elementary school teachers?

Is the curriculum course in college for the education program hard? I was looking through the program and courses for majoring in Elementary Education at my school (Northeastern Illinois University) and I was wondering what do they teach you? Do they teach you *How to TEACH a subject* or do they *Teach a subject to you* so you can learn more about it and then teach it? Is the program based more on a PHYSIOLOGICAL aspect of learning how to teach young minds or in teaching the (college) student more aspects about the subject like math and science, language art etc?
