elementary activity
What is a good lower elementary art activity for someone with limited funds?

I’m a college student living in a dorm, and I have very limited funds. I’m supposed to come up with an art activity for children in K-4, K-5. What are some good art activities, taking into consideration I don’t own any art materials?
The kids do own glue, scissors, and crayons. I am able to get construction paper and cut out letters (big and mini) from the supply room.

Use recycled materials. Ask kids to bring a bag of recyclables from home. Read Aliki’s “What Can You Make of It?” Kids can make individual projects or a group one. Ime, most kids come up with some sort of sculpture, but it could be anything their imaginations come up with.

Living on campus, if you’d rather, you could also ask students to save their recylables for you or go around to offices and ask.

Another good idea with recy. materials is styrofoam peanuts and toothpicks sculptures. Toothpicks are really inexpensive.

Learn to Move, Moving Up! Sensorimotor Elementary School Activity Themes (Hardcover) Learn to Move, Moving Up! Sensorimotor Elementary School Activity Themes (Hardcover)
$24

Jenny Clark Brack is back with a new book! Following the same structure and philosophy as her first book, Learn to Move, Move to Learn: Sensorimotor Early Childhood Activity Themes, her latest, Learn to Move, Moving Up! focuses on elementary-school age students with sensory processing disorders. In a comprehensive introduction that covers current trends in education and occupational therapy, the book overviews many evidence-based practices as well as yoga, music, and Speed Stacks. Throughout, the emphasis is on involving the child`s team for the best possible outcomes. The centerpiece of the book consists of 30 sensorimotor, theme-based lesson plans that include literacy and curriculum suggestions for teachers, and suggests ways that they can be incorporated into busy elementary school schedules and environments. As in Brack`s first book, the carefully developed lesson plans offer activities structured around seven elements designed for both learning and fun: Warm-Up, Vestibular, Proprioception, Balance, Eye-Hand Coordination, Cool-Down and Fine Motor.
